Six years ago, today, I posted the introduction to my From the Cookie Jar blog. After all these years, I still enjoy writing about memories, ideas, and recipes.
My recipes are vintage and come from my personal collection of frequently prepared favourites. The recipe section of my blog has evolved a great deal since I began contributing recipes to Prairies North, the magazine of Saskatchewan. I write a recipe column called “Eats and Treats,” and in each issue, I invite readers to visit From the Cookie Jar blog for more recipes.
In December, BrandBallot wrote to tell me I had been chosen as one of their top 150 food bloggers for 2018. After explaining to them that recipes only make up about a third of my blogs, I looked into the judging criteria and found it refreshing. My December 5 blog explains more about this lovely surprise. I have since discovered many other bloggers from BrandBallot's site.
In celebration of my sixth anniversary as a blogger, I treated my 200th subscriber, a young woman from BC, to a $300 purse from She Native. In 2016, I wrote “A Purse with a Story” telling more about this company.
Today, I chose five names from my subscriber list, and each will receive a one-year subscription to Prairies North, the magazine of Saskatchewan; winners will be contacted soon! This magazine is filled with Saskatchewan photography, history, and places you should visit.
I spent this morning with a class of grade fours who are helping me write a blog for next month. They applauded my accomplishment and then got down to business helping me write our story.
This afternoon, I took the time to think about you, my readers. Thank you for making this journey with me. Without you, I would merely be creating a colourful journal.
